Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the capture process of a property or venue take?

A typical capture can take around 60 minutes for 1’000 ft2 site – but this also can depend on the complexity of the property. Larger venues can take onwards and up to 2 hours dependant on the area required to be captured.

What preparation is required prior to capture?

In order to showcase the interior of any tour – the venue or site should look at how you would like it to be viewed by your target audience. It is, therefore, imperative that the venue is clean, free from any clutter and also minimal people present at the property on the day of the shoot. This will give us a platform to complete the tour efficiently and as promptly as possible.

Can I view a virtual tour on a smartphone or tablet?

All of our 3D-VR tours are compatible with all smartphone’s and tables, some smart TV’s and other connected devices.

How can I upload and showcase the 3D -VR tour on a website or social media?

Upon completion of the tour, we will provide you with a link that can easily be embedded on any website or uploaded onto corporate social media sites.

Can these tours be viewed via a VR headset?

All our scans are readily available to be viewed on VR using one of the following compatible headsets :

  • Samsung Gear VR
  • Oculus Go
  • Google Cardboard
  • Google Daydream (through WebVR)

What are the advantages of using 3D-VR Media Matterport cameras compared to standard 360° cameras?

Matterport’s advanced technology provides :

  • Higher resolution (134 MP vs 15 MP)
  • Better light-dark HDR performance
  • Accuracy within 1% (vs. 4-8% for 360° cameras)
  • Floorplans, print-ready 2D photos, and Matterpaks are only available with the technology used by us.

How does 3D-VR Media generate enhanced 3D depth data from captured images alone?

We use exclusive Cortex AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology to a precise 3D depth from 2D cameras that have installed 3D depth sensors. Cortex recognises items, rooms, and the detailed characteristics of any space captured. It is a machine learning algorithm that is trained on billions of individual 3D images and data points from Matterport’s extensive, worldwide library of 3D spaces.

Why does 3D-VR Media use AI (Artificial Intelligence)?

We use AI for two main reasons:

  • To create 3D models from 2D photographs
  • Task automation, which includes:
  • Instant galleries
  • Video clips (MP4 and GIF)
  • Face blurring
  • Tour starting point and hero image
  • Room identification
